As the Lumineers warmed up a sold-out Terminal 5 in Manhattan on Friday night, it wasn’t a battle of identity as some fans might have guessed.

The Coachella 2013 lineup has been announced and along with the main headliners like Blur, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Phoenix are two Colorado bands, the Lumineers and Pretty Lights.

Here are our top 10 artists rumored to play Coachella, and chances are some of these could come true.

The 2013 Governors Ball lineup has been announced and a few Colorado acts join superstars such as Kanye West and Kings of Leon at the music festival.

One would think Fort Collins band, Fierce Bad Rabbit, with its light, pop-folk sound would be the next local act to cash in on the genre radios and listeners want to hear. But, FBR showed at its CD release party on Friday night at the Oriental Theater that it’s just not ready for the same success of its peers.

The folk rock revival is alive and well thanks to the globalization of Mumford & Sons, the Avett Brothers and now, our local kids, the Lumineers. The triple bill of Shovels and Rope, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Lumineers at the Ogden Theatre on Sunday evening promised a later than usual start for the headliners, but not one moment was wasted on the victory lap.

It used to be Denver bands would move to New York or Los Angeles. To be around other musicians. To be surrounded by music industry. To find like-minded artists. To get signed to an influential label. To be exposed to that big-city art aesthetic.

And while that still happens on occasion, more and more national touring musicians are making a home for themselves in Colorado.

Friday’s concert at the Ogden Theatre brought back the Flobots (who performed at the first Denver Acoustic Christmas in December of 2011), newcomer Zach Heckendorf and Big Head Todd and The Monsters; who unbeknownst to fans performed with a very ill Todd Park Mohr. Mohr, who according to band members had been feeling sick all day, was rushed out of the venue immediately following their set to receive medical attention.
