The Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers at Red Rocks, night two (photos, review)

Saturday night the Avett Brothers continued their run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with the second of three sold-out performances over the weekend. The show paid respect to many corners of the brothers’ now extensive discography, from their humble roots as North Carolina folk crooners to the polished mainstream success of their last three Rick Rubin-produced albums.

Watch the Avett Brothers’ 14-minute Red Rocks documentary

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8laaHJwD74&feature=youtu.be The Avett Brothers certainly have a sweet spot for Red Rocks Amphitheatre -- enough to film an entire 14-minute documentary about it. The video was filmed during the band's four-night run at the legendary mountain amphitheater earlier this summer as the band prepared to mark its 10th show at the venue.

The Avett Brothers announce “Avett Fest”

A band's success is always bittersweet for their fans. On one level, you're happy for them, because the people you love are succeeding. (You want them to be happy, don't you?) But on another, their tour dates start to thin out, the venues get bigger and tickets become expensive.

Watch the Avett Brothers perform “Kick Drum Heart” on “Jimmy Fallon”

Who would win in a strum-off between the Avett Brothers versus Mumford and Sons? Who has better facial hair, Marcus Mumford or Seth Avett? I mean, these are the things that kept me up last night while the Avett Brothers made their triumphant return to "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" to perform a medley starting off with an amped up "Kick Drum Heart" and steamrolled right into "Geraldine." The guys definitely "pile-drived" the crowd into submission last night.
