I never subscribed to Ryan Adams following his rock ambitions with the latter part of his catalog. The DNA in the musical fiber of Adams is best when the spirit of Whiskeytown past is being harnessed. Last night’s performance of “Shining Through the Dark” gave me goosebumps that the fire is still alive and the possibility of a reunion with Caitlin Cary would make a lot of people happy.
Of Monsters and Men will be descending on the Boulder/Denver area for the next two days. But before they arrived this week, the Icelandic folk-rock revivalists took over the “Chin’s” stage at “the Tonight Show” to perform “Mountain Song” (check it at the 37:41 mark) off of their fast moving album, “My Head is an Animal.” Look for the quintet to storm the Boulder Theater this evening (SOLD OUT) and open for fun. tomorrow at the 1stBank Center (SOLD OUT) as part of KTCL’s Not So Silent with local favorites, Churchill.
