The always-ironic Hipster Runoff torch bearer “Carles” recently wrote a lengthy and angry post about Denver’s own the Lumineers. In it, the (likely) he/(though possibly) she denounces the group as a “post-country-twee-honkie-drankin-beer-at-a-festival” band too disingenuous to warrant attention.

The folk rock revival is alive and well thanks to the globalization of Mumford & Sons, the Avett Brothers and now, our local kids, the Lumineers. The triple bill of Shovels and Rope, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Lumineers at the Ogden Theatre on Sunday evening promised a later than usual start for the headliners, but not one moment was wasted on the victory lap.
