What do you get when you take a horrible band and age them a few years? An old, horrible band! Photos by Mateo Leyba. Oh, Creed. What can be said about you, at least without laughing? Your grunge necrophilia and oblivious, earnest persona is so easy to revile then dismiss, but there must be something to your platinum-selling prowess, your quasi-Christian lyricism and your lead singer’s fratty goth-douche outfits. Is it the improbable appeal of your big, dumb melodies and crunchy guitars? Your bombastic stage [...]
Live review: Def Leppard, Poison, Cheap Trick @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
By Kyle Wagner | August 26th, 2009 | 5 commentsPoison’s Bret Michaels takes the stage to deafening cheers at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre on Monday. Photos by John Leyba. Usually there are two kinds of people in the world, but at Monday night’s nearly sold-out heavy metal breast-fest, there were three kinds, each one indignant because Cheap Trick, Poison or Def Leppard should have been the headliner.
Live review: Aerosmith @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
By John Hendrickson | August 2nd, 2009 | No Comments »Cool or forced? You decide. Photo by John Leyba. When you reach a certain age, rocking out stops looking so cool. Aerosmith – hailed by many as the great American rock band of the last 30 years — certainly showed signs of its age at Fiddler’s Green Ampitheatre on Saturday. It was an evening of greatest hits, rock star clichés and ubiquitous, out-of-touch stage antics from lead singer Steven Tyler.
Live review: No Doubt @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre

Gwen Stefani of No Doubt owns the massive stage at Fiddler’s Green on Wednesday. Photos by Soren McCarty. Gwen Stefani is a living statue of anatomical perfection. The realistically-proportioned Barbie seems impervious to aging, stress and the fleeting changes in popular music, an icon of enviable style and good manners. Sure, her run as mega-pop star over the last five years has been fun to watch, but nothing compares to seeing Cali home girl go legit with No Doubt once again and take ownership of [...]
Santana @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
By John Leyba | September 15th, 2008 | No Comments »Carlos Santana brought his band to Greenwood Village’s Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre for a big, flashy show on Saturday night. Photos by John Leyba. Life is good for Salvador Santana. Not only did he have one cool guitar teacher as a kid — his dad, Carlos, handled those duties — but now he has an automatic opening slot whenever he wants it in front of 10,000-plus people. Such is the life for the Santana family. While the crowd responded well to Salvador Santana’s playing on Satuturday [...]
KS-107.5’s Old School Freestyle Explosion featuring Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, MC Magic, Naughty By Nature, Coolio, Tone Loc, Young MC, Trinere, Debbie Deb and Nocera @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
By | August 18th, 2008 | No Comments »[photopress:stevie.jpg,full,pp_image] Seriously, we’re not making this up. This 1990 hit was one of the highlights of the flawed KS-107.5 Old School Freestyle Explosion. File photo. I almost didn’t write this review. I almost wrote to my editors and proclaimed my defeat to the worst show I’d witnessed all summer long. But instead, I decided it was more important to tell the tale of the train wreck concert I witnessed at Fiddler’s Green on Friday night. In a grossly inadequate nod to the R&B genre of [...]
Linkin Park, Chris Cornell and the Bravery @ Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre
By | August 15th, 2008 | No Comments »[photopress:lp.jpg,full,pp_image] Linkin Park captured just the right emotion at their show earlier this week at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre. File photo. Live music in the summer season tends to bring out the cream of the human crop in terms of concertgoers. Outdoor shows are an environment where beasts of the sunburned beer belly variety roam free, chicks in triangle bikinis and cowboy hats feel at home in Rocky Mountain sun, and velvet Elvis-style Nirvana shirts that read “Memories of Kurt Cobain,” do in fact, exist. In [...]
