Thievery Corporation at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (photos, review)

Friday night Washington D.C. based collective Thievery Corporation put on yet another genre-bending headlining performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Led by DJ’s Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, the duo brought their production to life with a full band and a myriad of guest vocalists (seven in all) as they flowed between Middle-Eastern lounge, downtempo, reggae and hip-hop.

38 Special at Hudson Gardens (photos, review)

The Hudson Gardens Summer Concert Series continued Sunday with 38 Special rocking Father’s Day and ushering in the Summer Solstice. The band, founded in 1975, conjured up the ghosts of summers past with tracks like "Caught Up in You," "Back Where You Belong” and "Like No Other Night." Despite temperatures in the 90s, the Florida rockers got the crowd on the grassy venue on their feat and bouncing around beach balls.

Fans braved lightning and intermittent rain -- at one point so bad it forced evacuation from the venue -- and the constant lure of Nutella-laced mini donuts to experience this weekend’s third annual Snowmass Mammoth Fest in the Town Park in Snowmass Village, which culminated in the glory that was the “Wheels of Soul,” defined as the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Doyle Bramhall II, that served as the finale Sunday night.
