Listen: Colorado’s Sound of Ceres shares “Hand Of Winter”

Sound of Ceres is the new project by Fort Collins' Candy Claws and Apples in Stereo frontman Robert Schneider. Ahead of the group's debut album, "Nostalgia for Infinity" (out on March 4 via Joyful Noise Recordings), the band has released the new single "Hand Of Winter." Rock 'n' roll really has a thing for mothers. Rolling Stone magazine even once argued that the first rock 'n' roll song was also Elvis' first release, "That's All Right," a song consoling mama by saying "that's all right, any way you do." Perhaps musicians are especially sensitive people with a soft spot for their moms, and perhaps they see how the life of a musician can be tough on momma.

Denver-based indie sextet Somerset Catalog won't unveil its debut full-length for a little over a month. But in advance of the Oct. 30 release of "Lonely Fang" on Misra Records (a national indie label now partly based in Denver), the group is sharing the haunting new track "Shaking Windows." The crisp tune, with vocals from Trevor Trumble, vibrates on a bed of dark, rumbling melody until Trumble's vulnerable, up-front singing takes a seat and Brigid McAuliffe's harmonies hover above it.
