Phish returns to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in 2016

For the last several years, Commerce City has been taken over by Phish heads come Labor Day weekend. But as Phish wound down its all-time, eight-tune encore on the final night of its fifth Labor Day weekend stand at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park last September, frontman Trey Anastasio offered high praise for the band’s soccer pitched visits, but only offered up that “hopefully” they would return again.

Dressy Bessy roars back to life with “Kingsized” album, tour

If a band is only as good as its last album, Dressy Bessy was in trouble. The Denver indie-pop act’s 2008 release “Holler and Stomp” sold poorly and received a conspicuous slam from the tastemakers at Pitchfork, which damned the album with a 2.8 (out of 10) rating and called it “awkward” and “weak,” speculating that “it’s probably time for folks to stow Dressy Bessy in the attic.” Regardless of its quality, “Holler” also arrived at a time when the recording industry — and the economy around it — was disintegrating.

Snowball 2016 cancelled

After taking 2015 off, beleaguered winter festival Snowball has announced it will not return in 2016, citing a lack of a suitable venue. The festival announced the cancellation via Facebook this afternoon: SnowBall Fam -- It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm SnowBall will unfortunately not be returning for 2016.

Bassnectar announces Colorado-based mini-festival Bass Center

After dropping many a not-so-subtle hint, womp-heavy EDM producer Bassnectar has announced Bass Center, a two-day mini-festival based in Colorado. Bass Center will feature two extended sets by Bassnectar as well as a smattering of other DJs and hip-hop acts, including Flux Pavilion, Wu Tang Clan, Flying Lotus and Porter Robinson.
