Fresh off its weekend performance at Governors Ball in New York, Spoon has released its new studio single “Rent I Pay” via Spotify. The band’s last album “Transference” was released in 2010, and this marks Spoon’s first new music since signing with Loma Vista.

The band, which teased the album with cryptic Tweets and ads reading, “R.I.P. Spoon” posters, shared its first new music on June 6 via a live NPR debut of the single at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge. The studio recording of the new Spoon song reveals its crunching guitars and Beach Boys-styled bridge.

Spoon is currently on tour and will be performing at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and our very own Telluride “The Ride” music festival on July 12.

Spoon also released the cover and tracklist from their new album “They Want My Soul,” which drops on August 5. Check it out below.
