In the past few years 4/20 in Colorado has gone far beyond the underground, stoner-specific holiday that once secretly celebrated weed. Take a walk around the city on Sunday and you’ll find an atmosphere in similar to New Year’s Eve, Halloween or the Fourth of July. Nearly every bar, event center, arena, amphitheater and club has planned special a special 4/20 event. By our rough estimate there are nearly 50 major events happening across the state, but add in smaller bars, house parties, restaurants, mountain towns, cabarets, pub crawls, etc. and it becomes almost impossible to count.
To help you navigate all the shows, here are the five best 4/20 concerts in Colorado:
5) Method Man & Redman — Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom, $42-$65
Method Man and Redman are no strangers to Colorado, usually playing in the state a few times every year. It makes perfect sense that the stars of “How High” would have an affinity for our weed-friendly state. But this year the Wu-Tang Clan-affiliated rappers are going all out, playing two shows on 4/20 at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom — one at 1 p.m. and one at 8:30 p.m. We just can’t figure out why they didn’t make one of the two showtimes 4:20 p.m. …
