Ah the week-long post-New Year’s Eve hangover kicks in, and with it, a light week of shows. It might be boring, but some day your body will thank you. Not all is lost, though. A few acts are still venturing out in early January, and topping our picks of best Colorado shows this week are Male Bonding and Maria Taylor. We’ll be seeing you there, and if you don’t make it out, follow the music musings on our Twitter @RVRB and our selfies on Instagram @heyreverb.
Maria Taylor — Larimer Lounge, Jan. 5, $12-$14
Signed to Saddle Creek Records, Maria Taylor exemplifies the label’s specific sound of country-influenced folk music. Like modern Bright Eyes — whom Taylor has performed with — the artist’s music travels from indie to indie-rock with a classic natural twang. Taylor released her sixth solo album in 2013, which ups the production value from her previous work, even incorporating a chorus of backing vocalists on tracks like “Tunnel Vision.” Along with Blake Brown and PJ Bond, Taylor plays at the Larimer Lounge on Jan. 5.
