M.I.A. stopped by “The Colbert Report” Wednesday night to talk all-things M.I.A., aka politics and music, and perform two songs off her new album, “Matangi.”

“Do I have to dance and think about the Kumundini boat massacre of 1985?” Colbert asked the rapper jokingly before her performance. “Why mix politics with fun?”

“I was actually inspired by American artists like Bob Dylan and Public Enemy,” she shot back. “By the time I put out my first song and came to America, I thought you guys were used to it already.” Point: M.I.A.

Afterwards, she took to the stage with a DJ and dance-happy hype girl to perform “Y.A.L.A.” and the poppy “Come Walk With Me,” trippy album cover colors intact.
