M.I.A. is still chasing the proverbial dragon. “Paper Planes” is the measuring stick that a lot use when comparing Maya Arulpragasam’s new material. The English-Sri Lankan beat princess celebrated the release of her new album, “Matangi,” with a performance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday.
The show displayed a very grounded M.I.A. in a whip-smart interview with the clever Fallon. Maya is pushing her single, “Come Walk With Me,” which started off as a slow simmer that erupted into a full stage freakout and included none other than the Roots on backup duties. Look for M.I.A. to perform at the Fun Fun Fun Fest this weekend in Austin.
