Hipsters have probably wet their pants reading this headline. Two of the things that they love most in this world, cinema and music, co-mingle to make beautiful art. Arcade Fire is set to provide music for the new Spike Jonze film, “Her,” according the the band’s Facebook. Spike’s latest film stars the off the wall and often bearded, Joaquin Phoenix, and the sultry voice of Scarlett Johansson. Jonze is responsible for “Being John Malkovich,” “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Adaptation.”
In the children’s book come alive, “Where the Wild Things Are,” Jonze brought his muse, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as a silent star in the film that tied all of the uncertainty behind the monsters and Max with resounding success. Fans will remember that Jonze is responsible for Arcade Fire’s short film, “Scenes from the Suburbs.”
Arcade Fire is scheduled to release the follow up to “The Suburbs” (which is rumored to be titled “Reflektor”) on Oct. 29. The album is produced by LCD Soundystem’s, James Murphy. Head over here to see a small clip of a random person writing “Reflektor” with chalk on a blackboard.
