UMS adds a comedy showcase featuring High Plains Festival talentBy Matt Miller | July 8th, 2013 | No Comments »
A little laughter might be the best change of pace after many hours of moshing, thrashing, dancing and whatever other -ing verbs you’ll be taking part in during the Underground Music Showcase later this month. If this seems like a pleasant way to cool down, then spend 11 p.m-1 a.m. at the Hornet during the Saturday of UMS for a showcase featuring High Plains Comedy Festival talent.
In support of Denver’s growing comedy scene, the showcase includes comedians who will be part of the city’s first all stand-up festival in August. High Plains artists Jordan Doll, Jim Hickox, Kristin Rand, Troy Walker, Sam Tallent, Chris Charpentier, Bobby Crane, Nathan Lund and Ben Roy will all perform. The night will be hosted by High Plains curator and Denver comedian Adam Cayton-Holland.
As for the High Plains Comedy Festival, it takes place from Aug. 23-24 at the Hi-Dive, 3 Kings Tavern and Gothic Theatre. Along with the aforementioned comedians, performers include, Kyle Kinane, Reggie Watts, Rory Scovel, Sean Patton and more. Tickets for High Plains are on sale now at highplainscomedyfestival.com.
