Denver’s first-ever all stand-up comedy festival, set to debut on South Broadway Aug. 23-24, has added Reggie Watts as headliner and more locals to the lineup.

The High Plains Comedy Festival, taking place Aug. 23-24 at rock clubs the Hi-Dive and 3 Kings Tavern, as well as Englewood’s Gothic Theatre, has announced its headliner, added a handful of locals to its lineup and set an on-sale date for tickets.

Critically acclaimed comedian and musician and Comedy Bang! Bang! co-host Reggie Watts will headline, along with new additions Matt Braunger, Ron Funches, Howard Kremer, Cameron Esposito and Matt Knudsen.

They join previously-announced national stand-ups familiar to fans of Comedy Central, MTV and late-night talk shows, such as Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, Sean Patton, Nikki Glaser, Beth Stelling, Bryan Cook, Kate Berlant and Kurt Braunohler.

Curated by Denver comedian Adam Cayton-Holland, of the Grawlix comedy troupe, and producer Andy Juett, the High Plains lineup will also feature nationally-known Denver stand-ups Troy Baxley and Chuck Roy — two major influences on the local stand-up scene — in addition to the Grawlix, the Fine Gentleman’s Club and others to be announced.

Pricing info has yet to be released, but tickets for the event are on sale at highplainscomedyfestival.com on Saturday. Check back here for updates and more details.
