Who says “it’s not about what you know, it’s who you know?” I guess a little nepotism never hurt either. Kanye West tapped his would be brother-in-law, Scott Disick (by way of Kourtney Kardashian), to do his best Patrick Bateman impression for an “American Psycho”-inspired short film for “Yeezus.”
The “American Psycho” scene West recreated is one where Christian Bale attempts to explain the merits of mid ’80s Huey Lewis and their attempt at being “Hip to be Square” to Jared Leto. Bale’s take on Bret Easton Ellis’ self loathing character, Patrick Bateman, is one of pure sincerity and hyperbole. Disick’s attempt teeters on the rigid side, but did fulfill the clean cut all-American role with a handful of aces.
Kanye is having one of those stellar weeks. Kim Kardashian gave birth to their new baby girl this past weekend and his new album, “Yeezus,” will be released on Tuesday. Also, his track, “Black Skinhead” has been used as the music to accompany the new Martin Scorsese/Leonardo DiCaprio flick, “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Your move, Jigga.
