New Nine Inch Nails album out this year on Columbia

With the string of tour dates — including festivals and a show at Colorado’s 1stBank Center scheduled for this year — it was just nice to see life in Nine Inch Nails. But a new album still didn’t seem likely.

In 2009, Trent Reznor said he was making “NIN disappear for a while,” and fans have been waiting in a painful limbo for four years. Now, Reznor has announced that four years is all fans have to wait. A new Nine Inch Nails album is due out later in 2013 on Columbia Records, according to a news release.

“I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately,” Trent Reznor said in a news release. “For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”
