If it weren’t for the parlance of the digital age, the synth pop boys of Capital Cities might have made a great act to DJ a wedding.
Dolling out versions of the Bee Gee’s “Saturday Night Fever,” Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” and Madonna’s “Holiday,” Capital Cities knows how to keep a dance party going. Clad in black silk jackets and black pants, Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian brought their lap tops full of dance beats to the Gothic Theatre on Friday night for a sold out show.
The covers were mixed in among performances of all six songs from their 2011 self titled debut EP. The crowd waited in anticipations to hear the lead single off the EP, “Safe And Sound,” which the group predictably closed the night with.
