Has it been confirmed that no one actually sings at one of these awards shows? Forgive the naivety, but for once I’d love to see some of these performers put away the recordings and just go for it, because I still believe that these superstars have talent (looks at Beyonce). All lip-synching and acting aside, we’ve compiled our top five highlights of the Billboard Music Awards 2013.
Justin Bieber was booed on Sunday while getting presented with the “Millennium Award” — booing that likely stems from his douchey moves lately. Though, the night wasn’t a total loss for the Beebs. JB was able to dress up in leather with pal Will.i.am to bring a well choreographed performance of “That Power.” Selena Gomez — the Disney Channel alumna — had a lights out night with a bombastic take of “Come and Get It,” dressed in her leftover wardrobe from “Spring Breakers.”
Taylor Swift did her best at adapting a “Glee”-like feel to her performance of “22,” and the man-eater of a performer took in a solid eight awards for the evening.
Pitbull and J-Lo attempted to perform what we hope doesn’t become a summer staple with “Live It Up.” I’m not sure my heart can take another summer of dealing with Mr. 305 on any summer jams, especially with J-Lo. Then Miguel did some sort of WWE leg drop move that seemed like it was intended to crush someone in the audience.
