Even two years after the announcement, it still seems odd that Coachella has expanded to two weekends of the same lineup. While the location and the musical acts certainly helped, what really established the festival was its ability to produce one time only moments people still talk about. Daft Punk’s pyramid, Arcade Fire’s beach balls, holographic Tupac and a long list of reunited bands all delivered an exclusive experience that gives any music fan an “I was there” story. Anyone who makes it to Indio, Calif., with a ticket gets to see something unexpected and unforgettable.
That’s what this weekend is for. Round one of Coachella is the real deal, where no one knows what is in store. Sure it’s impossible to predict things like the resurrection of Tupac in holographic form, but we chose the five moments people will be talking about next week, and looking forward to at Coachella round 2.
5) Pusha T with a (possible) Kanye West appearance
With a number of great guest spots, some early mixtapes and his success as part of Clipse, Pusha T‘s upcoming solo debut album has quite a bit of buzz behind it. So, could something bigger be brewing for the rapper’s set on Saturday? Here’s our thought: a Kanye West appearance. West has been known to make sudden appearances at Coachella. In 2006, organizers announced 24 hours before the festival that West would perform on the main stage. Pusha T also happens to be signed to West’s record label G.O.O.D. Music, and on Thursday the two released a song together.
