Watch the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on LettermanBy Julio Enriquez | April 7th, 2013 | No Comments »
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs brought everything but the kitchen sink to Letterman on Friday for a performance of “Sacrilege” off the upcoming album, “Mosquito.” Fans from 2003’s “Fever to Telll” will likely scoff at the use gospel singers on new material. But Karen O appears brimming with confidence with the new YYYs material.
The jury is still out on the miscellaneous spike haired baby gracing the album cover, however, one thing we can all be certain of is the quality of music fans can expect. The new album was recorded at Sonic Ranch out in Tornillo, Texas (outside of El Paso city limits) in the middle of pure desert and solitude. This marks the second time the NYC trio have used the bleak surroundings as a backdrop for creativity — “It’s Blitz,” was the first.
For fans that have yet to experience the new album scheduled for release April 16 via Interscope, watch/listen below to sample the full album. No Denver date is scheduled at the moment, however, fans won’t need to look too hard for YYY dates. For those of you heading to the desert in Indio for Coachella will be treated to fresh takes on the album or head Kanrocksas at Kansas Speedway June 28.
