Brandi Carlile returns to Red Rocks this year, and it might be worth your moneyBy Ricardo Baca | April 1st, 2013 | 1 Comment »
Brandi Carlile will again tour the U.S. this summer, and her tour will again bring her to Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver.
While Carlile is a mammoth talent and certainly has enough draw and sway to headline the foothills amphitheatre, many have yet to hear her music, which is fronted by an elegant if fearless voice that is unparalleled in pop music today.
And so that’s where this post comes in. Give this Carlile video 3 minutes of your day – 3:21, to be exact — and you’ll (at the very least) be able to make the informed decision on Carlile’s show at Red Rocks and it being worth your money.
This video is so ridiculously beautiful that it might change your mind on Carlile. Or it might not. Leave us a comment if you feel strongly one way or the other.
That’s Carlile on “Austin City Limits” singing her lullabye “Oh Dear.” The song is one of her most heartbreaking, and it’s one, too, that showcases her voice – the same voice that was elevated to stardom after her well-known hit “The Story.” But where “The Story” indulges in bombast and production, “Oh Dear” relishes in the simplicity of a single uke, a tuneful melody, some stark contrasts and a whole lot of harmony.
Brandi Carlile will headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 13 with Blind Pilot and the Lone Bellow opening. “Early bird” tickets are on sale this weekend for $30 – the onsale starts at 10 a.m. Saturday — but when those are gone, tickets will cost $36.95-$46.50 via ticketmaster.com.
