The full network blitz has been going for quite some time for OneRepublic. The fever pitch for “Native,” the newly released album from Ryan Tedder and company hit its high note on the Top 8 results edition of “American Idol” on Thursday. In a great display of synergy, ex- “American Idol” alum from season 5 runner up, Katharine McPhee, dipped her toes back on the big stage in front of Randy Jackson and the crew.
The contribution from the well coiffed McPhee displayed a firm grasp on the Coldplay formula to hit making that will make OneRepublic fans rejoice across the land. For the casual fan, look past the over-production and focus more Tedder’s ability to texture albums. The level of improvement from album to album and collaborations has improved remarkably and only stands to get better as time progresses. The “American Idol” appearance marks the 450th episode anniversary. Shesh, where have the days of Clay Aiken and Kelly Clarkson gone?
Bad news is that the Colorado Springs’ kids have nothing scheduled for the U.S. yet, however, that can soon change. For the immediate future, you’ll have to catch them on their UK/European tour with no U.S. festival dates on the horizon. Watch OneRepublic and Katherine McPhee perform “If I Lose Myself” below.
