Daft Punk has been leaving little crumbs to string us along on the release of their forthcoming album. Yesterday the duo finally announced this album is called “Random Access Memories” and is scheduled for release May 21 via Sony/Columbia Records. You can watch a new Daft Punk album teaser for “Random Access Memories” below.
One of the first clues came in the form of a blog post from Chic’s legendary main man, Nile Rodgers. We took the bait and the Parisian duo announced their departure from Virgin and signed with Columbia. At this point, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. A mysterious picture of the purveyors of all things “faster, better stronger,” surfaced with hinting at the possible album cover in 2013. Then during “Saturday Night Live” came 15 seconds of a song from the new Daft Punk album, which wet the pants of fans across the world. Our next crumb came in the form of song times registered by Sony for Daft Punk.
But when Daft Punk announced the relesae of “Random Access Memories,” the only new music we got was another 15 second teaser during a “Saturday Night Live” rerun. So if you add both teasers, we get half a minute. Progress, people. At this rate, we might get half a song by the time the album drops.
