Time to mark your calendars for Aug. 2-4 and pack your bags for Chicago’s Grant Park. Ahead of the full announcement, the Chicago Tribune has confirmed three Lollapalooza 2013 lineup headliners. This year will belong to Phoenix and Vampire Weekend with their new albums. Oh, and Mumford & Sons will be there too, making their victory lap to perform “I Will Wait” to the last 20 people who haven’t heard the banjo-rrific track.
Reverb has you covered with new music from both VW and Phoenix. Just yesterday, Ezra Koenig and Co. released two new tracks that you can listen to over here. The first, “Diane Young,” will probably be used for selling cars, and the second, “Step,” could’ve been used in the credits of “The Royal Tenenbaums.” Check out Phoenix’s track off of “Bankrupt!” titled “Entertainment” that has that quick Phoenix one-two punch that hooks you right from the beginning. No Phoenix dates are on the horizon, but look for VW to punch their Red Rocks card on May 20.
This domino is the second to last to fall in the grand scheme of U.S. music festivals with Austin City Limits waiting to announce their lineup as a last hurrah to summer. This festival will mark the first that the three play together in the same weekend for fans looking to maximize their festival spending money. Look for a full Lolla lineup to be announced next month.
