The Yeah Yeah Yeahs next album, “Mostquito,” won’t be released for another two months, but the New York group has already released the album cover, two teaser videos and now the album’s first single, “Sacrilege.” Listen to the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs single radio rip below.
The track, which premiered today on BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe Show, surprisingly features a 24-piece gospel choir supporting Karen O with the chant “Sacrilege, sacrilege, sacrilege, you say?”
“We chose that track because you can view it as an opener and a comeback song,” O told Huh Stephens, who was filling in for Lowe. “I think there are a lot of bold moves on this record and experimentation.”
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs haven’t yet announced a full-fledged summer tour in support of “Mosquito,” but do have four dates in the UK, Germany and France during the month of May.
It will be the first album for the group since “It’s Blitz,” which garnered a 2010 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album and peaked at 22 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.
