The David Byrne and St. Vincent tour includes two Colorado shows

UPDATE: David Byrne and St. Vincent’s date in Telluride has them headlining the Ride Festival. Also on the bill: Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Cake, Steve Earle and Son Volt.

One of the most likable records of 2012 was easily “Love This Giant,” the lovely, if subtle, debut collaboration from David Byrne and St. Vincent. The duo just announced an extensive U.S.-Canada tour this summer that includes a couple big, select dates in Colorado.

The duo’s six-week tour will include a big date at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ southern location at Chatfield on July 13, surely a part of the yet-to-be-announced Botanic Gardens Summer Concert Series. Byrne and St. Vincent are a coup for the series, and from there, they’ll head southwest to the cozy mountain hamlet of Telluride where they’ll play the Telluride Town Park (home to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and other events) on July 14.

Are they playing a one-off concert in Telluride, or are they headlining one of the town’s many festivals? It’s looking like a straight-up concert, as the only properly timed event in town that we can find is the Telluride Yoga Festival, which doesn’t seem to have a musical component this large.
