Tyler the Creator has a new album coming out, as announced via skydive today by his fellow Odd Future member L-Boy.

The controversial rapper has long spoken of “Wolf,” but the announcement of an April 2 release date might come as a surprise to his fans — that and the record has three separate covers, all of which are funny but uncomfortable, as per Tyler’s visual aesthetic.

What is going on in the main cover for “Wolf”? It’s reminiscent of Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” but without a hint of nostalgia. Here, Tyler almost seems troubled what might be his past self, wearing a jheri wig and white bracelet and proudly displaying his inhaler, which the asthmatic Tyler still depends on.

Perhaps it signifies Tyler’s musical maturation. Talking about “Wolf”, he recently told SPIN: “Talking about rape and cutting bodies up, it just doesn’t interest me anymore. What interests me is making weird hippie music for people to get high to.”

As any Deadhead would attest, there’s nothing juvenile about that.

Little else is known about “Wolf,” although Tyler did semi-confirm via Formspring that Earl Sweatshirt would make an appearance.
