Santigold, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to play free shows at Vail’s U.S. Open

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are really taking advantage of their current momentum.

As we’ve reported before: The hip-hop duo behind the Top 10 single “Thrift Shop” can’t seem to stay away from Colorado venues. After headlining the sold-out Winter on the Rocks at Red Rocks, they announced a date in Greeley on March 3. And now Burton is announcing that the hip-hoppers will play a free show in Vail a couple days before the Greeley show.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will headline one of the nights of the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships on March 1. The duo will play the free show at Solaris Plaza from 6-9:30 p.m. on the 1st, setting the stage for a big Santigold performance on March 2nd, also at Solaris Plaza. Both shows are free.

Organizers are encouraging fans to get to the mountain early to check out the various halfpipe and slopestyle events at the U.S. Open, including Olympic-level finals with competitors including Shaun White and Kelly Clark.

The U.S. Open’s closing party will take over Dobson Arena on March 2 after the Santigold show. The closing party is also free – though you’ll need tickets for that one, which are available via any Vail-area Burton store – and it’s headlined by Skratch Bastid and Cosmo Baker from 10:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. March 2.
