Nathaniel Rateliff to record a live album at Mercury Cafe for release

Denver-rooted songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff is recording a live album, he announced on his website today.

Rateliff will record the album at a just-announced show at the Mercury Cafe (2199 California St.) at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27. The all-ages show will have local favorite Joe Sampson opening and Mighty Fine Productions behind the boards.

No word on the record’s release date, but it will likely be the first album of Rateliff’s since the May 2010 release of “In Memory of Loss” on Rounder Records.

In other Rateliff news, the artist is currently playing a slate of house shows to help repair his touring van – including a Feb. 21 gathering in Colorado Springs at the Big Green House (1355 Lindenwood Grove). The Springs show is thrown by Reverb pal Fuel Friends, and we know they do good work with their intimate house show gatherings.
