Watch the new Lumineers “Stubborn Love” video

On the eve of the Lumineers’ big Grammys debut, the Denver band has released the video for “Stubborn Love,” which debuted on VH1 last night. If you’ve ever seen the introspective pug meme, the video is kind of like that, with a little girl staring out a window at car accidents and such. At one point she even thoughtfully watches as the Lumineers pass by! It’s all very melancholy, but with some nice glowing shots of tunnels and car windows. You can watch the new Lumineers “Stubborn Love” video below.

On Sunday the Lumineers perform at the Grammys, where they’re nominated for two awards. The band has done its job staying in the news since the nominations came out. Yesterday the band was the subject of a lengthy New York Times article. The article, which highlights the supportive Denver music scene, quotes local musicians, Nathaniel RateliffEsmé Patterson of Paper Bird, and Hi-Dive booker, Ben DeSoto.

But this success hasn’t come without some criticism. Early last month, the always-ironic Hipster Runoff blasted the band, calling it  a “post-country-twee-honkie-drankin-beer-at-a-festival” band too disingenuous to warrant attention. Despite these naysayers, the Lumineers have kept trucking along with sold-out shows in New York City, a score of festival dates announced and a performance on “Saturday Night Live.” We’ll see how this all culminates on Sunday.
