James Blake has announced a new album and a new single, “Retrograde,” on BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane. The episode should be available on the BBC’s website soon. Listen to the new James Blake song below.

The album, which appeared on our most anticipated albums list, will be called “Overgrown” and is out on April 8.

“Retrograde” is a powerful track that puts Blake’s crooning up front, over a downbeat melody and buzzing chorus. It’s somewhat more vibrant than what heard on his eponymous debut in 2011, and could hint to different tone for his new full-length, which will be released via Republic.

Blake is currently scheduled to perform at the Ogden Theater on April 28. Keep to Reverb for updates as they happen.

Just a clarification: Zane started his show at 1, not earlier this morning so if anyone is like me and went on a bloodthirsty search for “Retrograde”, exercise patience, my lovers.
