Vampire Weekend details new album, announces a Red Rocks show

When the acronym MVOTC appeared on Vampire Weekend’s web site and Tumblr on Feb. 1, fans were left curious as to what the cryptic message meant.

Now, after a rather unique announcement through the New York Times classified section, the group has revealed that “Modern Vampires of the City” will be released on May 7. It is the first album since 2010’s “Contra.” Two weeks ago, Vampire Weekend released its new single, which you can listen to here.

Vampire Weekend’s spring tour to support “Modern Vampires of the City” includes a date at Red Rocks with Of Monsters and Men on May 20, according to the band’s website. No word yet as to  when tickets go on sale.
