2) Brother Ali, Cervantes’ and the Other Side, Feb. 2, $29-$35
Brother Ali and Danny Brown — now this is an interesting combination. One is the albino MC with a proclivity toward political rhymes who has gained a cult following for most of his 15-year career. The other is the squawking, Detroit rapper known only for six years’ worth of mixtapes to his name before his 2012 album garnered critical success. When the two play the Winter Shredded Beats outing at both Cervantes’ and the Other Side on Saturday, it will be a showcase of underground hip-hop — what the genre is capable of without getting weighed down by commercialism, glamour and hype. Tickets will run $29-$35, available from cervantesmasterpiece.com.
