It’s not the “All the Time,” the track that we were expecting to come out soon, but the Strokes’ new song, “One Way Trigger” has been released. The track is presumably from the upcoming album that was confirmed this month by Billboard. You can listen to the Strokes’ new song below.
“One Way Trigger,” a clean, poppy track that’s heavy on the synth, has Julian Casablancas singing in a higher register and a guitar solo that is more reminiscent of old Strokes.
At about 1 p.m. the Strokes tweeted, “it’s been a while…sorry the long wait! for something new, go tohttp://www.thestrokes.com now. more to come…”
After the band’s debut album, “Is This It,” in 2001 the Strokes were hailed as writing some of the “best pop songs ever” and continued this success with the second release. Most critics felt the band fell short on 2006′s “First Impressions of Earth” and the band took an extensive break. In 2011 the Strokes returned with Angles, an album that once again didn’t live up to critics’ expectations.
A fifth album is expected sometime this year, although no title or release date has been announced.
