Nosaj Thing‘s, “Home,” dropped on Tuesday and the sophomore release features guest appearances by some well-respected names in electronic music.

Few since the Beatles have been as effectively homophonic as the Los Angeles producer. But he’s a talented musician as well, capable of crafting catharsis out of synthesizers.

If Nosaj Thing’s 2010 debut, “Drift,” sounded like warbly jet-setting toward Alpha Centauri, consider “Home” a steady perusing of the stratosphere, minus the fiery reentry. He’s taken a significant step away from percussive beats, embracing softer harmonies and linear song structures.

Perhaps most significantly, Nosaj Thing is no longer a nobody. His new album is packed with special guests. Putting his production to vocal performances is a first for the young producer, but they take to one another well. Most will be distracted by the perfectly acceptable performance from Chaz Bundwick of Toro y Moi fame, who provides his sensual vocals to “Try.” But the album’s true gem is Kazu Mikino of Blonde Redhead, a perfect conductor to Nosaj’s electric ambivalence on “Eclipse/Blue.” It’s his best track yet.

No word yet on what touring plans might be in store for Nosaj Thing, so check his website for announcements. “Home” is on sale now.
