1) The Walkmen, Ogden Theatre, Jan. 21, $20.75
For more than a decade, the Walkmen have been unafraid to bring indie music to a tougher, louder place. The band makes rock for fans who don’t like that mainstream description. But something has happened on the group’s last two albums. Call it a maturing of musical style, or an adherence to the softer overall indie scene, but the Walkmen’s last two albums have sounded, well, pretty. Critics and fans have been OK with this transition, too. When the Walkmen play the Ogden Theatre on Jan. 21, expect a dynamic show as the band plays older, harsher hits such as “The Rat” alongside the newer tracks including “We Can’t Be Beat.” Tickets are $20.75, axs.com.
