3) Bloc Party, Jan. 23, Ogden Theatre, $26.50-$30
In its career, Bloc Party did something very few musicians are talented enough to do — make one unforgettable album. The problem is that album was the band’s debut, “Silent Alarm,” nearly eight years ago, and since then hasn’t quite produced anything like it. This gives “Silent Alarm”-only fans a tough question to wrestle with: Go to the band’s show at the Ogden Theatre on Tuesday and pray the majority of the set comes from Bloc Party’s debut, or completely miss out on the British post-punk band once compared to the Smiths? The answer is that it’s totally worth it. It has been a long time since Bloc Party came to Denver, and this is one of few chances to get teary eyed and nostalgic over that “Banquet” opening riff.
