Looks like we won’t have to wait long to see if the Strokes can release an album that lives up to its landmark first releases “Is This It” or “Room On Fire.” Billboard has confirmed that the band will release its fifth studio album sometime this year.
After the band’s debut album, “Is This It,” in 2001 it was hailed as writing some of the “best pop songs ever” and continued this success with its second release. Most critics felt the band fell short on 2006’s “First Impressions of Earth” and the band took an extensive break. In 2011 the Strokes returned with Angles, an album that once again didn’t live up to expectations.
In June Reverb reported that the band was working on this yet-untitled new album in New York City.
