“If you all weren’t out here, we would still make ****ing music,” the Used vocalist Bert McCraken told a packed Summit Music Hall on Monday night. “We care to much to quit.”

The Used sprinkled newer work into its energetic 75-minute set, but the biggest reactions of the night came from songs off the group’s first two albums. Noticeably absent from the 16-song set was “Blue and Yellow” from the Utah rock band’s eponymous 2002 debut. “Pieces Mended,” a song McCraken said the band hadn’t played in 10 years, did make the set, though.

The band closed its set with “Pretty Handsome Awesome,” before returning for a two-song, vocal chord-shredding encore. “This is the greatest song ever written,” McCraken told the audience as the band dropped into the opening riffs of Nirvana’s, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” before ripping into a rousing version of “A Box Full of Sharp Objects.”
