Ryan Gosling was almost a Backstreet Boy - Reverb

Hey girl. Ryan Gosling was almost a Backstreet Boy

Who is your favorite Backstreet Boy?

It was the question that made — or utterly destroyed — friendships in the late ’90s. And if Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean had just answered his phone, one of the potential answers could have been Ryan Gosling.

According to Buzzfeed, Gosling and McLean have been friends since Gosling’s stint on the Mickey Mouse Club — that’s right ladies: They even lived together!

And it was during that time that Gosling told McLean that the Backstreet Boys would never make it big because they seemed like a New Kids on the Block rip-off (for the record, they didn’t rip them off until they joined them ).

Once the Backstreet Boys had massive success, Buzzfeed reports, Gosling said McLean started ignoring his phone calls. But McLean recently told TMZ that he wasn’t intentionally ignoring Gosling’s phone calls, and that he has a good enough voice to join the band.

Since Gosling’s career is so totally in the tanks right now, who bets that he joins A.J., Howie, Nick, Kevin and Brian on their next tour?

Bueller? Bueller?!
