Best Denver concerts this week (01/11/13-01/17/13): The Centennial, Fierce Bad Rabbit and more

If you’re worried about your music’s carbon footprint, then this week is for you. The best acts this week are home grown, characterized by established musicians in new bands, and upcoming bands from up north. There’s also a Pink Floyd cover band thrown in the mix because, well, people really love Pink Floyd cover bands. Here are some of the best Denver concerts for the week of Jan. 11-Jan. 17:

The Centennial, Jan. 11, Larimer Lounge, $8-$10

One of the many Denver-based projects associated with Nate Meese and Pat Meese, the Centennial, is celebrating the release of its first full-length album, “Nervous System,” at the Larimer Lounge on Jan. 11. There’s a reason the Meese brothers have become such a staple in the Denver music scene, and by the sound of early tracks from “Nervous System,” the album will be the quality of music we’ve come to expect from the two. The song, “My One and Only,” is a dark, driving grove framed in shimmering guitars and a deep organ. Check it out below:
