2012 was dominated by music with heavily electronic influences, but at least according to the folks over at BBC, 2013 will be the year when “guitar music is definitely on its way back.”
And with new releases by AC/DC, the Vines, Pearl Jam and the Strokes, they might be right. But with releases by pop staples like Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and yes, even Cher(!), electronic-influenced music isn’t going anywhere quite yet. Here are 10 pop(ish) albums that I’m excited for.
More anticipated albums of 2013:
10. Katy Perry, TBA
Coming off of the success of 2010’s “Teenage Dream,” which sold six million copies worldwide and was only the second album in history to have five number ones (after Michael Jackson’s “Bad”), Katy Perry has promised fans a “darker” album for 2013. Hopefully being darker doesn’t mean that she’ll stop shooting whipped cream out of her boobs.
