Vampire Weekend has confirmed it will release a new album this spring, according to a Q article posted on the band’s Tumblr.
Frontman Ezra Koenig said the still untitled album — the first from the indie-pop group in three years — will be “darker” and more “organic.”
“It really does feel like the third chapter in a book,” Koenig told Q. “We created some characters on the first record, some of which are real people, some of which are ourselves, so it’s not hard to keep following them and see what their concerns are now and how their lives have changed.”
The group hasn’t played in Colorado since its 2010 show at Red Rocks in support of “Contra,” which was released that year.
Koenig told Q that the gap between albums was due to the “ruthlessness of the Internet.”
