Jay-Z scoring the “Great Gatsby” movieBy Kelsey Fowler | January 2nd, 2013 | No Comments »
It wasn’t too long ago when the new trailer for the upcoming flick “The Great Gatsby” showed us that Frank Ocean, Jack White, Florence + the Machine and Filter had joined the slew of musicians contributing their work to the movie — or at least the ads for the movie. Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Frank Ocean collaboration, “No Church in the Wild,” has already been heard in one of those ads, but now Pitchfork is reporting that Beyonce’s main man Jay-Z is scoring the entire film.
As in, all of the music for this epic American classic is going to be created by the poetic man who penned the immortal words, “If you shoot my dog, I’ma kill yo’ cat” (“Justify My Thug”).
Jeymes Samuel of the Bullitts — who are also working on the film’s score — Tweeted recently: “Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!”
There has been no official confirmation from Jay-Z’s camp, but perhaps he’s too busy planning play dates for his baby Blue Ivy, and BFF Kanye West’s new bundle of joy due in 2013.
