Psy performs “Gangnam Style” for the Obamas days after apology for anti-American commentsBy Reverb Staff | December 10th, 2012 | No Comments »
Nothing says “happy holidays,” like almost one billion hits on YouTube and pretending to ride a horse while wearing reindeer horns.
Two days after apologizing for a 2002 rap imploring listeners to, “kill those Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives,” “Gangnam Style” singer Psy performed at the annual “Christmas in Washington” holiday concert Sunday night.
The concert, which President Barack Obama and his family attended, benefited the Children’s National Medical Center. In addition to Psy, who changed the lyrics of his ubiquitous hit to “Christmas Style,” Diana Ross, Demi Lovato, “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery and “Smash” star Megan Hilty also performed.
Obama said the celebration was, “a chance to get in the Christmas spirit, spread some joy and sing along with artists who have much better voices that we do.”
Unfortunately, the president did not take the chance to embarrass Sasha and Malia and join Psy on the dancefloor like Madonna did last month.
