Fiona Apple cancels tour dates because of dying dog

It took four hand-written pages — scanned and posted on Facebook — for Fiona Apple to inform her fans that some of her upcoming tour dates will be canceled so she can be with her deathly ill dog.

“I have a dog Janet, and she’s been ill for almost two years now, as a tumor has been idling in her chest, growing ever so slowly…,” Apple wrote. “She’s my best friend and my mother and my daughter, and my benefactor, and she’s the one who taught me what love is… I can’t come to South America.”

It’s very sad, but, mind you, this is the same Fiona Apple who dated David Blaine in the mid-‘90s and told the crowd at her July show in Denver, “if you feel you need to leave because you are about to cry, just stay and cry.”

The exact dates Apple will be missing have not been announced. Luckily, Denver got a chance to see the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter before these unfortunate circumstances. Check our photos above.
