Winter On The Rocks announces a return in February with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and moreBy Ricardo Baca | November 19th, 2012 | No Comments »
After selling out Red Rocks’ first-ever wintertime concert in January, Denver ski-maker Icelantic announced the second edition of its Winter on the Rocks this morning.
Winter on the Rocks will again take over Red Rocks in February 2013 with some hip-hop action that will have the kids shuffling in their (potentially) snowy seats.
‚ÄúWe believed the allure of Red Rocks could be magnified by putting on a winter event,‚ÄĚ AEG Live boss Chuck Morris said in a statement this morning. ‚ÄúLast year proved we were right, the show sold out weeks in advance and garnered rave reviews from all. We are honored to bring Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to create another legendary winter event.‚ÄĚ
When we spoke with Atmosphere, the first event‚Äôs headliner, in advance of the debut event, the group‚Äôs MC Slug was hoping for snow: ‚ÄúI guess 40 degrees would be awesome, but there‚Äôs a part of me that hopes it‚Äôs freezing,‚ÄĚ said Slug ‚ÄĒ real name Sean Daley. ‚ÄúI would like to see how people kick it in the outdoors in the extreme cold.‚ÄĚ
The Reverb review from the first Winter on the Rocks nearly 10 months ago started like this: ‚ÄúThe ticket said ‚Äėsnow or shine.‚Äô This was the first indication of insanity. The ticket was actually allowing for a contingency of snow. At Red Rocks. I had always viewed the shivering masses at winter football games with judgmental suspicion, and yet, here I was, scouting out a spot for a hip-hop show at Red Rocks in the pitch-black darkness of a January night.‚ÄĚ
General admission tickets for the 2013 event, $40, go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
