British singer-songwriter William Topley played an extended set at the Fox Theatre Wednesday night. He was accompanied by Boulder-area musicians Christian Teele and Taylor Mesple on drums and keyboards (and a bit of accordion thrown in for good measure).
With a style reminiscent of a grittier Van Morrison, mixed with the vocal nuances of Greg Brown, Topley and his traveling vocal companion Dorie Jackson brought the music to new heights. Songs became vocal jams, and the eager Boulder audience took it all in with smiles on their faces.
